Wondering what the Black Friday fuss is all about? Suffering from a bad case of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) on one of the best retail sales of the year?
Black Friday is fast becoming an important date on the online shopping calendar in South Africa, and Tshipi Alexander, Head of Consumer Issuing at Absa, shares the top five things you need to know about Black Friday:
* Online purchasing is convenient, and that’s where the bulk of the sales and discounts will be, so be sure to browse for those specials.
* If you have a limit on your card for daily transactions, clear this with your bank ahead of time, to avoid disappointment when transacting.
* Ensure the security of your card by shopping on trusted and secured sites only, and keeping your pin and passwords a secret. Don’t forget to have your debit or credit card 3D enabled as some sites might require this in order for you to make any purchases.
* All retailers participating in Black Friday will be competing for your attention, your money, so shop around for the best deals, but be quick to avoid missing out.
* Keep an eye on social media, most retailers will use this as a platform to drive footfall into their outlets or more numbers on retail websites.
We all love great bargains, and while none of us want to miss out on the hype, please ensure that you keep some funds for the upcoming festive season. That is unless of course, you come across some great festive season shopping deals this Black Friday, then go ahead indulge, but remember to save some for a rainy day as well as the New Year.
