Internet Solutions’ Parklands data centre has joined the Nexcenter network.
Parklands is the first data centre in Africa to meet the stringent technology and service standards defined by the NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), the ICT solutions and international communications business within the NTT Group, conveyed by the Nexcenter brand.
Parklands is now one of 140+ Nexcenterâ„¢ data centres worldwide to offer consistently excellent facilities and operations, as well as international scale and cost efficiency.
“Our Nexcenter accreditation is significant for local enterprises considering global expansion, and for multinational corporations entering the region,” says Matthew Ashe, executive: data centres at Internet Solutions. “We are proud that this validation of our world-class data centre expertise offers peace of mind to clients trusting us with their valuable data.”
During on-site inspection, the Parklands facility was examined against more than 300 criteria that evaluate location, power, cooling and security, among others.
Internet Solutions recently broke ground on a new addition to the Parklands data centre which will double its current capacity. On completion, at a total cost of approximately half a billion Rand, the data centre will provide a total capacity of 572 racks and 2.2 megawatts of IT power.
The data centre is located in Rosebank, close to Johannesburg and Sandtonn CBDs.
“Our proximity to some of the continent’s most important business centres, meaning minimal latency, and the fact that we are carrier-neutral — even hosting the Johannesburg Internet Exchange – are some of the stand-out features that makes Parklands a data centre worthy of Nexcenter status,” says Ashe.
Internet Solutions has set its sights on expanding its share of the South African colocation market with an average growth forecast of 12% per year as a result of increasing demand by government agencies and content service providers.
“Internet Solutions is pleased to join this globally-recognised network of data centres,” says Saki Missaikos, MD of Internet Solutions. “As the first Nexcenter location in Africa, we embrace the challenge of leading South African data centre expertise and facility standards to even greater heights.”
