Flock Event Management’s customisable, flexible and cost-effective mobile app provided delegates and speakers with a seamless experience at the recent IMC 2018 conference.
Held in Johannesburg for the sixth time, IMC is said to be the leading marketing and communication conference in Africa, exposing delegates to the full range of communication disciplines including digital and social technologies characterising today’s industry.

The Flock app, developed in South Africa and customised for IMC, provided all event information, including the schedule and list of speakers with their biographies; relevant logistical information, social media activity and exhibitor and sponsor details.

It also provided access to the highlight videos and photographs shot during the day, and drove all the social media activity around the event.

Organiser Dale Hefer, CEO of the IMC Academy, feels the app added considerable value to the event. “Mike Lysko and his team really pulled out the stops to create a very functional app for the 2018 IMC Conference,” she says.

“There was much positive comment regarding the app and the stats proved that it was well used. I highly recommend Flock.”

This was echoed by seminar attendees. “The Flock-developed app for the IMC Conference was most useful; easy to navigate, simple to understand. It gave all the necessary information in a simple to use, non-intrusive way,” says Kevin Welman, ByDesign’s communications director.

According to Lysko, Flock CEO and founder, the app is a great tool for event organisers to present all the information resulting from their hard work and planning in a convenient place.

This can include online access to a broad range of services and information for guests and event managers alike, including online registration, exhibition catalogues, maps of the venue detailing exhibitor locations as well as restroom and refreshment stations, speaker programmes including CVs, gaming elements if necessary and access to a full list of visitors plus instant messaging for networking purposes.

This digital/mobile experience complements the live events as attendees get access to the event content ahead of time and, with the social buzz created in the app, there is a level of excitement created that fuels attendees’ enjoyment, he says.

Most importantly for Lysko, however, is the fact that the customisable solution is cost effective. “There’s a misconception that it takes months and a large budget to develop an app, so people tend to not consider the many benefits one can bring to an event, especially when your attendees are tech-savvy. I welcome event organisations to give us a call for a quote. I can guarantee Flock won’t break the bank.”
