POSITION SYNOPSIS:
The purpose of the role is ensuring a sustainable positive legacy in the communities surrounding the Hillside smelter. This will be achieved through consistent, open and authentic stakeholder engagement with communities, and delivering socio-economic development projects that address local needs, complement government plans deliver long-term benefits to local communities.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Develop, execute and coordinate a Stakeholder Engagement Plan in line with community objectives;
- Coordinate community engagements, including NGOs, host community interest groups, general public, municipal councilors and traditional leaders;
- Manage the South32 Community Complaints process and response for the operation;
- Undertake events to support positive brand and positioning of the operation;
- Keep accurate and timely records of engagement in the Stakeholder Relationship Management database;
- Identify opportunities for socio-economic development projects in local and regional communities;
- Develop projects that align with local government development plans and business priorities, including education, enterprise and supplier development, agriculture and entrepreneurship initiatives;
- Execute projects on time and budget including adhering to required governance structures;
- Adhere to all compliance requirements as part of internal project management processes;
- Ensure compliance with all anti bribery and corruption standards;
- Monitor and evaluate projects as per South32’s Community Standard and report outcomes.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Serious contenders will have a Degree/BTECH/National Diploma in Economics/ Social Sciences/Political Science/ Sustainability
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in stakeholder relations, communications, and developing and executing of community development projects in communities.
