Smart Integration adds Hikvision partnershipSmart Integration has been named as a local certified partner by Hikvision. This move allows Smart Integration to extend its existing offering to include touch-less access control and temperature measurement technology.
Glenn Noome, director at Smart Integration, says: “Access control methods have undergone several transitions over the past few years, from the punch cards and keys of yesteryear, through more recent pin codes and magnetic cards, to biometric fingerprint technology.
“The market has essentially been turned on its head by the Covid-19 pandemic, with a growing requirement for ‘contact-less’ options. Greater attention has been given to hygiene since the spread of the virus reached pandemic levels, which includes the touching of surfaces such as keypads. The introduction of touch-less technologies is allowing organisations greater control over public and shared spaces, playing an important role in reducing the risk of exposure to the novel coronavirus.”
Through its partnership with Hikvision, Smart Integration is now able to deliver algorithm-enabled facial recognition terminals featuring advanced deep learning technology, which increases the accuracy of facial recognition to over 99 percent with verification speeds of under 0.2 seconds – even in complete darkness.
“This means that, aside from meeting the heightened occupational health and safety requirements of today, Hikvision’s touch-less access control offers many other benefits to local companies, such as improved security with anti-spoofing technology. These counterfeit prevention measures mean that photos and videos, for instance, cannot be used to gain access deceptively.”
In addition to face recognition terminals, Smart Integration will offer Hikvision thermal cameras, which can be used for perimeter protection, temperature measurement, and fire detection.
“The thermal cameras provide excellent features, from clearer imaging and more accurate temperature measurement, to advanced intelligence allowing for accurate behaviour analysis, including detections such as line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and exit, and so on. In addition, these products provide intelligent human/vehicle detection, helping to greatly decrease the number of false alarms caused by animals, falling leaves and so on.
“Artificial intelligence (AI) is certainly being used in order to make the huge volume of data being created much more useful and relevant.”
Another key consideration with Hikvision’s offering is that these solutions can be integrated with existing third-party products, supporting open standards protocols.
“Importantly, mask detection technology can be added as a feature to the thermal cameras, to complement temperature screening and raise ‘no mask’ alarms,” Noome adds.
