LegalWise is looking to appoint a credible Business Development Manager to manage and monitor the implementation and support the LegalWise sales model to ensure the achievements of strategic objectives and new business targets in their quest to achieve the strategic objectives set out by the Company.

In the interest of following ‘protocols’ let us understand your responsibilities.

You will be responsible for:

  • Compiling tactical and operational sales plans to ensure the achievement of strategic objectives and targets.
  • Implements and monitors the achievement of tactical and operational sales plans and drives continuous improvement.
  • Focuses on business development within an area by prospecting for new Employer Stop order agreements and enhancing existing relationships.
  • Research, set up meetings, plan approach and pitches/ presentations.
  • Identify opportunities for sales campaigns/ blitzes to increase penetration and sales from existing facilities.
  • Prepare in conjunction with Manger: Field Sales monthly, weekly and daily Sales Planner (including; scheduling appointments).
  • Ensure consistent and detailed understanding amongst team members of the strategic objectives, targets and tactical and operational sales plans.
  • Keep abreast of new products/ product development from competitors and provide feedback to management.
  • Develops a network of relationships to identify future opportunities.
  • Recruitment, on-boarding and training of Independent Contractors/ Agents in collaboration with Human Capital.
  • Appropriately allocates resources to enable staff to fulfil their roles and to ensure the achievement of targets.
  • Effective problem-solving in respect of operational and tactical sales activities.
  • Manages sales teams and ensures that performance standards and sales targets are achieved.
  • Quality of New Business or Sales Application Forms, etc.
  • Manpower and sales production (per agreed budget and minimum standards).
  • Quality of business (2nd premium collection, clawbacks & Membership cancellations).
  • Responsible for the control of fixed assets in the Sales Branch.
  • Oversees the sound utilisation of Company assets by the team inclusive in line with applicable Policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Acts as a custodian of the LegalWise brand ensuring adherence to relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS), which include, but are not limited to, Brand Standards, Uniform Standard Operating Procedure, etc.
  • Analyses performance data, prepares and submits relevant reports within agreed time frames.
  • Demonstrates an awareness and understanding of relevant legislation governing business practices within the financial services industry.
  • Monitors and promotes sound business practices in accordance with relevant legislation.
  • Enforces relevant policies and procedures.
  • In collaboration with the Internal Audit and Compliance and Risk Departments, identifies areas of non-compliance and implements appropriate internal controls to mitigate such risks within Legal Research Reports any non-compliance matters timeously.

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in sales and/or marketing.
  • Relevant formal Management qualification is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory or management level position in sales essential (preferably within financial services).
  • Experience in respect of budget management, human resource practices and operations essential.
  • Proven experience in managing a sales team to meet and exceed new business/ sales targets.
  • Territory sales planning and execution on a tactical and operational level.

Skills and competencies required:

  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must speak English fluently.
  • Ability to speak one other official African language.
  • A willingness to travel, act independently and work after hours.
  • The ability to build rapport, motivate and inspire people.
  • Good networking skills to build and maintain positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of financial services and industry regulatory requirements.

  • Must relocate at own cost
  • ITC/Qualification/Criminal checks will be a requirement
  • Psychometric assessments will be a requirement
  • Valid driver’s license, and own reliable transport essential.
