The Role: A company is searching for an IT Support Engineer for their IT Team, to provide user support; support PC??s, Laptops and Terminals, peripheral devices, data communication and telecommunication lines and first line software support; and to maintain LANs and related [URL Removed] and Experience: Essential Experience:

  • 2 ?? 3 years in the IT Field.
  • 2 years experience in Hardware and Software.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Matric (Minimum NQF Level 4)
  • National Diploma in Information Technology or equivalent.

Key Accountabilities: Support

  • Hardware support on all Corporate Hardware E.G End User Devices, Warehouse IT environment & Intermec Scanners and other peripheral devices.
  • Software support on all Corporate software E.G Compu-Clearing, Lotus Notes & all Microsoft products.
  • Support on local and wide area networks including switches, wireless and related devices.
  • Support and update anti ??virus protection inclusive of In-houses PC??s.
  • Prioritise and support users via the helpdesk system.

Core System

  • Ensure all Servers are operational maintaining an up time of 99%.
  • Ensure all servers are backed up daily, and system restores are tested monthly.
  • Ensure all In-house PC??s are maintained and backed up monthly where necessary. Escalate any failures to the IT team leader.
  • Maintain Anitvirus software on servers
  • Pro-active management of all systems print and scan queues, these include open spool and LAN print queues.
  • Co-ordinate with Customer and IT team leader to find downtime slots for upgrades and maintenance.
  • Resolutions and escalation of IT incidents formally to IT team leader and to the managed services if they cannot be resolved locally.
  • Ensure change control procedure are adhered to and enforced in conjunction with Corporate IT.

PC Management

  • Ensure all corporate standards are adhered to.
  • Ensure legality of all software loaded on PC??s.
  • Ensure user??s backup all business data residing on their PC??s.
  • Ensure PC??s are updated monthly with the latest anti-virus protection software.

Documentation

  • Hold and catalogue all software in the country.
  • All PC details such as brand, processor type, ram, hard disk capacity, IP address, modem brand and software should be updated regularly and documented.
  • Maintain IT register and notify the Finance department of changes.
  • A log book of all installations / network and server changes should be kept.

Communication of Information

  • To ensure that all relevant Customers and staff members are furnished with the required information on time.
  • To convey a professional image at all times which are responsive to customer??s needs and complies with Group Standards.
