We are currently looking for an Energy Manager in North West who will be responsible for managing and monitoring the energy, implementing conservation measures, monitoring energy consumption, assessing business decisions for sustainability and seeking out opportunities for increasing energy efficiency according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings for various projects across the complex in line with regulations and business requirements.

Skills and Competencies

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in an energy/technical position within a hospitality maintenance environment
• Project management experience
• Experience in managing contractors / suppliers
• Requires specialised theoretical knowledge and processes relating to energy maintenance practices, processes and regulations
• Medium term planning 12 months
• Energy project experience
• Having a working knowledge of energy utility systems
• Showing proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Having strong quantitative and technical skills
• Procurement and negotiation skills
• Working experience of health & safety management and legislation
• Environmental management systems and legislation
• Budget Management
• Proficiency in MS Office, IFS & Pragma

Qualifications

• Certified Energy Manager Certification (CEM)
• Professional Engineer Licence (PE)
• Preferably registered with the SAFMA / other accredited facilities / engineering bodies

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform Energy Audits
• Audit the complex for energy efficiency.
• Inspect buildings with local and federal energy laws in mind to ensure they adhere to all regulations.
• Monitor buildings in order to identify areas where energy is wasted or energy efficiency needs improvement.
• Analyse utility usage in order to develop conservation projects.
• Lead company-wide energy awareness campaign by editing monthly energy awareness editorials, and offering on-site instruction

Develop and Implement Energy Saving Strategies
• Maximize energy efficiency.
• Create and oversee the implementation of short and long-term projects and strategies that increase energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and minimize unnecessary consumption.
• Implement energy-related cost-saving measures.
• Calculate the budget, project energy savings, and identify the goals for each project throughout all energy development processes.
• Work with the engineering team to craft and implement these measures.

Manage Utility Budget
• Create and monitor the utility budget through energy audits and the development of energy saving strategies . This will include calculating current energy costs as well as the potential savings of upcoming projects.
• Prepare budget reports and cost estimates for submission to Management.

Document and Present Projects
• Prepare formal proposals for all new projects, including projected costs for energy savings.
• Submit formal documentation and status updates for all current projects, regular utility consumption data reports and documentation of results for completed projects.
• Present this information to executive management in order to make energy-related recommendations.
• Oversee the development, communication and auditing of energy standards and processes for the complex on a regular basis.

People Management
• Lead and motivate employees and promote positive working relationships, direction and support
• Lead and oversee departmental communication ensuring employee and management interaction
• Measure and develop plans to enhance employee engagement
• Identify and manage training, coaching and development requirements in line with strategic plans, e.g. skills shortages, succession plans, talent management

Budget ManagementCollaborate with the Maintenance Management to manage the budget for the electrical function including:
• Budget
• Cost management
• Capex
• PIP and forecasting
• Financial reporting on project expenditure and progress

Stakeholder Management
• Engage with internal customers to understand challenges; issues; development and energy related requirements
• Engage and manage the performance of suppliers and contractors
• Engage with management with regards security; health and safety and critical technical breaches or anomalies
• Communicate plans, objectives and results to complex operational team; maintenance management team and employees
