We are currently looking for an Foreman: Water Reticulation & Plumbing in North West who Responsible for implementing the planning and delivery of the water reticulation and plumbing function throughout the complex ensuring the provision of clean water, disposal of waste water and sewage and the prevention of flood damage, including (but not limited to) the installation, repair, maintenance and upgrading of water reticulation and plumbing as well as other plumbing equipment including supervising the water plant operations equipment and water reticulation and plumbing team according to legislation and standards

Skills and Competencies

• Experience in line with a Class V Water Process (in line with regulations from National Standards for Water Services Works) namely:- Certificated candidates will require a minimum of 15 Years experience in water and waste water operations OR- Diploma candidates will require a minimum of 6 years experience in water and waste water operations- B Tech Degreed candidates will require a minimum of 4 years experience in water and waste water operations
• Engineering Degreed candidates will require a minimum of 3 years experience in water and waste water operations
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a water reticulation/plumbing engineering supervisory position, maintaining and repairing plumbing power backup systems, and all water reticulation and plumbing production equipment
• Project management experience
• Experience in managing contractors / suppliers
• Requires specialised practical knowledge and processes relating to water reticulation and plumbing systems and equipment, maintenance practices, processes and regulations
• Experience conducting the planning of activities to support business targets
• Organise, plan and prioritise tasks for self and team to ensure that work gets done profitably and efficiently
• Ensure that team is adequately resourced to achieve targets/meet job requirements

Qualifications

• Graduate Engineer in chemical, civil, mechanical or environmental engineering with a minimum of 2 years practical experience
• Diploma (at least at T3 or N5) with minimum of 2 years experience
• Core unit standards from appropriate NQF 4 qualification OR NTC III in Water Treatment practice or Waste Water Treatment practice or appropriate NQF 4 Qualification.
• National Diploma OR National Technical Diploma OR NTC VI or 3 year B Tech Degree (all in Water or Waste Water treatment)
• Apprenticeship in engineering with 5 years practical experience

Duties and Responsibilities

Delivered Water Reticulation and Plumbing Preventative Maintenance Plans
• Assist to compile and implement the water reticulation and plumbing preventative maintenance plan for the 12 month period for the business unit (including plumbing, pumps, HVAC and other machines and mechanical equipment).
• Make recommendations for the improvement of current processes and standards
• Implement new development, environmental and energy-saving opportunities for the property
• Conduct daily building and grounds walkabouts to inspect and audit water reticulation and plumbing supplies, machinery and systems and address any risk areas with management and team
• Manage and facilitate water reticulation and plumbing equipment maintenance and upgrades
• Implement water reticulation and plumbing equipment maintenance and repairs in line with 3-; 6- and 12 month preventative maintenance plan
• Enforce testing programs; scheduling repairs; coordinating shut-downs and installations

Pool, Potable and Waste-Water Operations
• Oversee the collection, chemical analysis and testing of potable water, wastewater and sewage samples
• Supervise the water plants and the production and storage of water
• Monitor operating conditions, meters, gauges and daily consumption; and react accordingly
• Ensure the recording of meter and gauge readings and operational data
• Supervise the operating of equipment to purify and clarify wastewater or to process or dispose of sewage

Maintained Water Reticulation and Plumbing Systems & Repairs
• Implement the inspection and testing of different water reticulation and plumbing equipment and systems to ensure compliance with safety regulations
• Implement design criteria and specifications, design computations, drawings, models, and bills of material in accordance with basic project requirements
• Participate in reviews, in collaboration with maintenance team, with regards conceptual drawings, layout process flows, process flow diagrams and, piping and instrumentation diagrams
• Manage the maintenance of water reticulation and plumbing equipment, repair resources and team
• Assist with the investigation, diagnosis and resolution of any escalated issues, risk areas and repairs to various machines and equipment across the complex

Water Reticulation and Plumbing Compliance Standards & Governance
• Assist to develop and implement policies and procedures for plumbing, pumps, HVAC and other machines and mechanical equipment.
• Align practices with new legislative compliance around health, hygiene, safety and the environment
• Implement sufficient control measures (including systems and processes) & checks within each department to mitigate any financial risk to the business.
• Conduct weekly walkabouts of all front of house and back of house areas to monitor compliance

People Management
• Lead and motivate employees and promote positive working relationships, direction and support
• Manage departmental communication ensuring employee and management interaction
• Ensure skills development by identifying and implementing training, coaching and development requirements in line with strategic plans, e.g. skills shortages, succession plans, talent management
• Ensure competent levels of staff meet operational level requirements (right fit for the job)

Financial ControlCollaborate with the Water and Reticulation Management to manage the budget for this function including:
• Authorise spend in line with budget
• Report on any variances for the department
• Collaborate with the relevant Engineering Manager to provide input into the budget, pricing of chemicals, plumbing equipment etc.
• Oversee and participate in the control of stock levels and ordering processes
• Financial reporting on project expenditure and progress
• Assess the impact of deviations on the project and overall programme, and report results to key stakeholders.

Stakeholder Management
• Engage with internal customers to understand challenges; issues; development and repair related requirements
• Provides internal stakeholders with updates of water & reticulation and plumbing systems and equipment outages and scheduled shutdowns
• Engage and manage the performance of suppliers and contractors
• Engage with management with regards security; health and safety and critical technical breaches or anomalies
• Communicate plans, objectives and results to complex operational team; maintenance management team
