This is a rare opportunity for an Analyst/Programmer with high business acumen to join a holding company comprising of retail, wholesale and logistic entities. You will join a small, talented development team working on numerous platforms including but not limited to COBOL, SQL, CCS, HTML, Java, JavaScript, and Python.
You will be responsible for the conversion of business requirements into coding specifications, writing of quality code that runs efficiently and is adequately documented and maintaining the system as well as developing new features and functionality. You will interact with various business units within the company.
Minimum requirements:
- System development life cycle
- Retail Business value chain and processes
- Structured work methods
- Analysis methods and techniques
- Programing language(s) of choice (primarily COBOL, and then Python, SQL etc will be an added advantage)
- Any combination of modern programming languages experience essential
- Software development in general
- Data base design and optimisation
- Systems integration
- Unit and integration testing
- Problem solving
- An understanding of Accounting principles will be another added advantage
- Strong commercial understanding, ideally exposure to buying/selling of products and the full supply chain process
