Business Enablement Unit has an opening for two Business Development Consultants (3 Fixed Term Contract) in the Marketing and Business Development Division. Applications are invited from people meeting the qualifications and experience requirements set out below.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Business Enablement Business unit was created to address financial sustainability as a primary objective. The identification of leads and their conversion to income generating contracts is paramount to the Unit achieving this objective, with income generation from the military environment being a prime focus. The fixed term Business Development Consultant from the military environment will assist the Unit to identify business opportunities, and utilise his/her network to increase the chances of converting business leads to contracts.
CRITICAL PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to have good congruence with defence and security clientele, by means of existing business relationships and networks in the foreign defence environment, past service in the military etc.
- The aforementioned presence must also provide support to the South African Defence Industry as Industry support is a mandate of Armscor.
- The incumbent is expected to use his/her insights in the military environment during prospection of foreign defence markets, including peace-keeping troop contributing contingencies within the AU and UN structures. Aspects such as inter alia operational experience and challenges and knowledge of structural protocol are required to both identify business leads and increase the chances of lead conversion.
- The fixed term contractor will work closely with the BE Business Unit in pursuing business development initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The maturing of business opportunities into revenue generated to Armscor is a key responsibility for the incumbent.
- Support the Executive Manager: Marketing and Business Development in the development and implementation of the company business development strategy and plans in line with the Corporate and Business Enablement business unit strategy to increase income and achieve financial sustainability of the organisation.
- Develop and implement a strategic engagement plan for the assigned portfolio of clients / region aimed to build, maintain and enhance relationships with the intention of realising business and increase income
- Promote Armscor’s value proposition to existing and potential clients in identified targeted markets and to key decision makers
- Provide appropriate solutions to the client and ensure that solutions are delivered in time and on time
- Provide input in the development and / or review of standards, policies, procedures and implement same
- Build, maintain and enhance relationship-based client focused culture with key stakeholders, i.e. DoD, Government departments & institutions, MAAC, multilateral stakeholders and SADI
- Keep abreast of developments in targeted market using market intelligence reports and other intelligence platforms
- Provide input in the development and / or review of standards, policies, procedures and implement same
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification in military/technical environment, Business Management, Marketing qualification or equivalent
- Relevant post graduate qualification will be an advantage
Experience:
- Military Products and Operations, Business Development, Communication Skills, Interpersonal Skills.
