We’re looking for a Business Development Manager who is passionate about:

  • Designing and implementing a strategic growth plan that will spearhead Universal’s customer base and ensure its strong presence in the healthcare market.
  • Achieving growth and hitting growth targets by successfully managing the sales process and team of uConsult.
  • Find creative ways to help increase growth of our multi-sides platform and increase user engagement. The objective of this role would be to create viral growth.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

The Business Development Manager’s role includes the following responsibilities:

  • Define a clear growth strategy and business plan for the multi-sided platform that will drive lead generation, sign-ups of platform registrations, profitability and client base.
  • Create and optimise ways to enhance the customer experience through scaling hyper-growth platforms, such as business-to-business or business-to-business-to-consumer. This include engagements, presentations and successful conversion of groups to join the Universal multi sided platforms with IPA’s Healthcare societies or healthcare groups
  • Achieve annual growth targets and ensure accurate annual, quarterly and monthly growth forecasts.
  • Build strong relationships with Internal clients /business partners, these include the:
  • Digital Business Team, that include the product management, programme management, content developers and User interface and user experience expert.
  • Technology Team, front and back-end developers, infrastructure, data and quality assurance managers.
  • Extended Business Team, HR, Finance, Legal and other business units within the organisation.
  • Operation Team, which will be your directly responsibility to manage and oversee, these include, product support managers, enterprise customer experience managers, operations value proposition managers, marketing and sales divisions.
  • Collaborating with marketing and product personnel on promotional strategies and “influencer marketing”.
  • Build deep familiarity with Universal’s digital product offerings and value propositions.
  • Research target opportunities, identify account leads, and build a robust pipeline through marketing and sales/growth initiatives.
  • Conduct market research, competitor and customer analysis and ensure that competitor and market intelligence is fed back to management level.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer needs, priorities and pain points.
  • Develops and executes business development strategies for a “start-up” business.
  • The digital product will require new digital marketing and growth solutions, and the successful candidate will be required to support the Marketing Department to build the Company’s Marketing and Sales to:
  • Solve problems and create marketing campaigns to convert into sales.
  • Translate the brand’s value into effective relationship marketing for large audiences.
  • Convert strategies into actionable, efficient marketing project plans.
  • Evolve Universal dialogue with customers across Instagram, Twitter, and other social media platform, by partnering with the marketing team to scope and develop Universal’s social voice and image.
  • Manage ongoing testing to optimise and analyse campaigns and projects based on key KPIs.
  • Evaluating website traffic and other data to better understand customer engagement and conversion rates.
  • Measure and report the effectiveness and performance of all marketing and branding efforts.
  • Participate in product management prioritisation and roadmap discussions and share market feedback on product and new ideas.
  • Test and optimise marketing tactics for customer acquisition (e.g. online advertising, direct mail, out of home, affiliate) and conversion rate optimisation.
  • Present products at the various Healthcare Providers congresses and seminars.
  • Provide daily statistical information regarding conversion rate.
  • Control expenses and monitor sales budgets

Experience and Qualifications Required:

To be a successful Business Development Manager in Universal, the successful incumbent should have experience in the same or similar role in the healthcare space. The successful candidate should also have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Management is a requirement.
  • 8 – 10 years’ experience in a similar role in the healthcare industry.
  • Curiosity regarding technology will be advantages.
  • Naturally make things happen around you. You manage project ambiguity, complexity and interdependencies in an organised and structured way to overcome roadblocks.
  • A willingness to challenge existing mindsets and to consider alternatives.
  • Resilience to deal with the challenges of a senior business development job, not to accept a “no” and bounce back.
  • Demonstrated ability to close deals.
  • Proven experience in customer relationship management.
  • Excellent problem solving, leadership and customer service skills.
  • Professional manner and presentable appearance
  • Ability to work after hours / weekends and public holidays to meet deadlines.

  • Experience with relevant sales software applications.

Work Requirements:

  • The position will be based in Sunninghill and own transport is essential. From time to time the role will requires long working hours and the successful candidate must be willing to work long hours to successfully complete projects within tight deadlines.
