Digital Data Architect

The actuarial and analytics department requires the service of a self-motivated individual, a go-getter with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and under pressure. As the Digital Data Architect, you will work closely with the Digital Analytics Support team members, product owners, IT / BI developers and consultants from internal / partner organisations to ensure their data driven principle is lived and breathed in every proposition.

Qualifications and experience

  • Postgraduate degree in Data Mining, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Engineering, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Informatics or equivalent.
  • Substantial (3+ years) practical Data architecture experience and developing and leveraging Digital Data Architecture Principles. Solid understanding of physical database design and the systems development lifecycle.
  • Google Cloud Platform, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Firebase, Apache Airflow, SQL and Python experience is beneficial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; with the ability to explain complex problems in a simple and effective manner.

Job description

Using data effectively requires the right data architecture, built on a foundation of business requirements. Meeting leading-edge business requirements, such as real-time customer and decision support, and large-scale analytics requires the integration of traditional data warehousing with new technologies.
Duties and responsibilities

  • Collaborating with business and technical stakeholders to develop a point of view on our current and, if possible, future business requirements, sketch its desired, flexible digital data-management architecture, and create a roadmap for implementation.
  • Contributing to the development of the digital data strategy and roadmap and ensuring it aligns and supports the business and technology roadmaps and enables the expected business outcomes.
  • Communicating solution approaches to technical and non-technical stakeholders that address short term business needs but evolve to support long term needs and to align to the digital data roadmap.
  • Owning the definition and the maintenance of Digital Data Assets. Drive the migration and clean-up of data from legacy systems to new solutions.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor across the team, educating staff members through training and individual support around data management.
  • Advising and supporting all aspects of data governance and data protection legislation.
  • Documenting and presenting architecture, models, diagrams to the team and technical leader board.
  • Accommodate new digital capabilities such as collecting and analysing unstructured data, enabling real-time data processing, and streaming analytics.
