The Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for the administrative and reporting process by which the required data is acquired, validated, stored, protected, processed, and by which its accessibility, reliability and timelines are ensured to satisfy the needs of the Schemes and other role players within and outside the organisation.
Duties and responsibilities
- Extracting data from a variety of data sources and software platforms such as Qlikview and SQL.
- Design/maintenance of Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) processes and the automation thereof to satisfy development and stakeholder requirements.
- Assess impact of development/changes required on existing Business Intelligence infrastructure/architecture and products.
- Assess feasibility of implementing development/changes required.
- Provide estimated timelines and resource requirements for the various phases/aspects of the development/changes required.
- Investigate and resolve data quality issues and escalate situations according to department processes.
- Design, maintain, execute and document system tests and requirement validation tests.
- Interact and collaborate with internal and external clients to understand data specifications and to satisfy reporting requirements.
- Consistently deliver usable databases on time and within budget while conforming to the Schemes content and quality requirements.
- Assist in defining and/or creating data listings, summary table validation, data specifications and/or process data transfers in preparation for statistical review and/or data management audit.
- Collaborate with IT and implementation team(s) to address clinical application requests and/or changes to clinical database systems.
- Ensures data system compliance by following the established guidelines of national and international regulatory authorities.
- Provide meaningful and accurate interpretations of analysed data.
- Maintain information gathered on knowledge management portals.
- Analyse and provide input on new data sources and recommend improvements.
- Prepare reports to the required standard, to be distributed to internal as well as external clients.

Experience and qualifications required
- Appropriate tertiary/post-graduate qualification in data analytics or 5+ years’ experience in data processing, database building and reporting.
- Expert knowledge in the design, implementation and maintenance of Qlikview/ Cognos models.
- Solid knowledge of basic programming concepts and data structures.
