Our client is a fast growing Pan-African PSP that makes online commerce and digital payment acceptance easier and more accessible across all Africa.
Based in Cape Town, South Africa, we work with small and large sellers to provide a complete toolkit to accept, manage and disburse payments through web and mobile.
We’re specifically looking for Product Managers for Commerce, Subscriptions and Merchant Journey, that’ll contribute to the direction of our digital payments platform, engage with our customer base directly, and decide the future of the product by working closely with key partners. This opportunity will provide hands-on access to building a modern scalable payment infrastructure across an entire continent.
You’ll also be working with your team and key stakeholders to define product initiatives, building customer empathy and understanding, and defining product initiatives. We take a data-driven approach to identifying high-impact opportunities and to ensure we’re measuring its effectiveness using key performance metrics.
We currently use AWS and have a server-less architecture.
Developing an understanding of how cloud native technologies and infrastructure can be leveraged to scale our business.
More core aspects of this role would be to lead the product development lifecycle along with engineering by documenting product requirements, making key decisions that move towards the desired solution, support testing and effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders throughout the process.

Owning the experience of how businesses use commerce platforms such as Shopify, Wix, WooCommerce, Magento and others to enable their online sales

Building customer empathy and understanding. Identifying businesses’ needs for trading online and discovering the ways to deliver the best product to match them

Owning the experience of how businesses use subscriptions and recurring payments for their online sales
- Driving subscription payment APIs with particular attention to driving platform strategies for payment systems
What we’d like you to have:
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ technical product management experience with strong technical literacy of engineering principles such as REST APIs and SQL databases
- An awareness of cloud technologies and a desire to learn and experiment with how it can be applied towards automating problems at scale
- Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting logic and crafting innovative experiences, even if you’re not a coder or a designer
- Experience with agile software development methodology
- Top communication skills – written and verbal. You’re proactive at communicating all phases of the product management lifecycle – definition, execution and delivery
- A start-up oriented drive to improve the efficiency and capacity of not only software development but also your career and those around you
- The ability to work autonomously. You’ll take full ownership and responsibility for your work each step of the way
