REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of a BSc food science (Biotechnology) or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in the food industry, especially manufacturing/processing
  • Computer literate, with good analytical skills
  • Results driven, self-confident, decision maker with leadership capability
  • The ability to work under pressure
  • Good interpersonal skills

DUTIES

  • Formulate food specifications.
  • Keep track of all changes to specifications and authenticate each change.
  • Ensure that all changes are in accordance with relevant legislation.
  • Liaise with marketing/sales on packaging design i.e. compliance with declarations made to all relevant legislation.
  • Operations research. Continual monitoring of operational standards and initiating improvements where necessary.
    This might also include new products and packaging as required by a change in process or by a customer.
  • Keeping abreast with new technology to improve production processes.
  • Proposing capital expenditure on machinery and equipment as required.
