REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of a BSc food science (Biotechnology) or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in the food industry, especially manufacturing/processing
- Computer literate, with good analytical skills
- Results driven, self-confident, decision maker with leadership capability
- The ability to work under pressure
- Good interpersonal skills
DUTIES
- Formulate food specifications.
- Keep track of all changes to specifications and authenticate each change.
- Ensure that all changes are in accordance with relevant legislation.
- Liaise with marketing/sales on packaging design i.e. compliance with declarations made to all relevant legislation.
- Operations research. Continual monitoring of operational standards and initiating improvements where necessary.
This might also include new products and packaging as required by a change in process or by a customer. - Keeping abreast with new technology to improve production processes.
- Proposing capital expenditure on machinery and equipment as required.
