A contract opportunity exists for a Senior Maintenance Planner to be deployed to a mine in KZN, South Africa. The Maintenance Planner will be responsible to assist with the improvement of the Maintenance planning practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the enhancement / ongoing improvement of the EAM system, this include:
Ensure correct Asset Tree Structures identified
Criticality Analysis (FMECA, RCA)
Identify fit for purpose Asset Care strategies and plans for different Asset classes (Preventative Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, Proactive Maintenance, Breakdown), update these from RCFA where applicable,
Generate Maintenance procedures by estimating the task, sequence of steps, the numbers of artisans and required labour-hours and list resources required: materials, tools and equipment, and contracted services needed.
- Implement Work Planning and Control processes and procedures on site:
Accurate scoping/assessing of maintenance tasks to be performed,
Planning maintenance activities and co-ordination of maintenance activities.
Schedule jobs to be done and recommend best sequence to accomplish the work.
Maintains Backlog register in accordance with priority limits.
Develops a maintenance work schedule for the maintenance area supervisor.
Schedule and coordinate the planning/scheduling meetings in conjunction with maintenance and operation.
Creation and closing of work orders with all key information captured
Verifying integrity of data captured by supervisors on a daily basis.
Manage preventative and predictive maintenance strategies, which will include condition monitoring and other practices.
- Spares Management
Work closely with engineering stores personnel to control spares and stock levels.
Once a job is planned, prior to scheduling, verifies the availability of spares/ materials
- Reporting
Ensure that all key KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) are tracked and reported to all relevant personnel (daily, weekly, monthly), KPI’s to include (Availability, Utilisation, Planned vs Unplanned Maintenance, % Schedule compliance, Capacity utilization)
Ensure data is captured correctly to ensure information disseminated is correct and accurate
Review trends and performance vs plan and identify reasons for poor performance
Monitor job completion rates and report trends to the Engineering management team.
Make recommendation for continuous improvement through the use of RCFA or other quality tools
- Stakeholder Management
Ensure ongoing communication with Engineering Team Leaders, Production Managers and Production Planner.
Have weekly head of section meetings, Information sessions and training sessions where required or new/change in processes.
- Actively coach and mentor planners to improve overall skill base
- Ensure safety, legal and company policies are adhered to.
- Implementation a culture of best practice maintenance.
Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
- At least 5 – 8 years’ experience in maintenance planning gained within the Mining Industry (Fixed Plant)
Qualifications:
- Completed a trade test as a Fitter, Millwright and Electrical with a recognized institution ideal.
- National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Mechanical- or Electrical Engineering
Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM)- and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) e.g. SAP, and/or Pragma On Key experience,
- Experience with SAP EAM, will be a distinct advantage.
- In depth Knowledge of TPM and RCM concepts and principles.
- Knowledge of MS Projects and MS Excel.
