The Key Accounts Manager is a key driver in the development, implementation and review of key account strategies with a focus on the Africa market. Based in Johannesburg, the role will be responsible for maintaining key accounts as well as responsible for organic annual growth targets set out by management across these accounts. The Key Accounts Manager will develop essential relationships across a variety of functions within key accounts to proactively engage with these customers, identify new opportunities for growth and ensure consistent communication.
Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Sales:
- Proactive opportunity development of the tier 1 accounts in the region
- Effectively communicate potential challenges early, so as they can be addressed
- Accurate forecasting (essential)
- Confidently engage with senior level client contacts to drive conversations to enterprise sales
- Build and grow a pipeline to meet quarterly/annual targets
- Collaborative approach with exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with international colleagues, partners and clients
- Well-developed problem-solving and analysis skills
- Presentation skills – to present high-level product/solution overviews to C-Level customers
Strategic Perspective:
- Develop, achieve, and grow the key accounts in your territory
- Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of sales plans and budgets
- Accurately forecast likelihood of forecasted opportunities
- Contribute to the development of product and promotional strategies
- Identify and develop strategically beneficial relationships with key clients, partners, industry and government bodies
- Keep abreast of global and local market trends and competitor activity and provide insight and recommendations on resultant opportunities or threats to the company or its products
Client management and reporting:
- Set and maintain the highest standards of quality for all activity and output regarding your annual account plan
- Uphold company policies
- Contribute to the improvement of corporate and divisional processes to increase efficiency and revenue generation
- Report to management on key accounts
- Work with the sales team to assist with budgeting, forecasting and reporting
- Ensure all sales are reported accurately and timely into the company CRM
- Contribute with feedback to the Regional Manager and department managers from time to time on licensing structure opportunities and enhancement
Miscellaneous:
- Some travel – domestic, international and mine site – will be required
- Represent the company at industry events
- Other duties as required by your manager
REQUIREMENTS:
- Mining industry experience
- Minimum 10 years’ strategic management and sales experience
- Must be willing and able to travel
- High calibre negotiation skills
- Extensive CRM experience
- Demonstrated successful sales record
- Relevant sales methodology training
