This position is accountable for developing and implementing market and business-aligned total rewards policies and processes for Massmart, in order to support the business turnaround.
Responsibilities
- Develop a total rewards strategy that is aligned with business and People strategies whilst remaining adaptable to business changes.
- Lead review/design of rewards and benefits policies and processes, in line with total rewards strategy
- Ensure that rewards mechanisms drive a performance culture and support business strategies
- Develop and deliver a range of benefit programs which are cost effective, competitive and able to meet the needs of a highly diverse workforce
- Manage Executive rewards
- Design & implementation total reward governance framework
- Accountable for the leadership of the full Reward and Benefits function, which includes but not limited to cash, variable and long term pay, executive and non-executive remuneration, provident fund, medical aid etc.
- Guide the management of all total rewards processes, implemented by the team
- Remuneration Committee (responsible for agenda, preparation & presentation of submissions)
Lead team of Remuneration & Rewards experts (coaching & mentoring)
- Collaborate with Walmart’s Global Rewards team
- Partner with businesses to incorporate nuances of respective business in the design of compensation, benefits, rewards and wellbeing programs
- Manage the training of People and Business leaders in creating a common understanding of total rewards and associated processes that line leaders are expected to manage
- Support business in implementing total rewards processes by providing requisite collateral and guidance
- Collaborate to trouble shoot and make real-time changes in the design wherever needed
- Engage and retain talent
- Member of the People Exco
Requirements
- Relevant post-graduate qualification, with minimum 12 years’ experience in People function
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading a total rewards function in a listed organisation
- Team leadership experience
- Experience in working with Remuneration Committees of a listed organisation is mandatory
- Understanding and knowledge of respective People policies, procedures and processes
