A key activity is to manage and make visible the product backlog, or the prioritized list of requirements for future product development. In fact, the Product Owner is the only person who can change the order of items in the product backlog.   • Together with the business architect and relevant business areas, understand product strategy, new opportunities, areas for improvement and client needs.
  • Collate change requests, project work, strategic initiatives and maintenance items in a central backlog that is prioritised together with key stakeholders.
  • Manage the product backlog, including:
  • Clearly expressing product backlog items
  • Ordering the items in the product backlog to best achieve goals and missions.
  • Optimising the value of the work that the development team performs
  • Ensuring that the product backlog is visible, transparent, and clear to all, and shows what the scrum team will work on next.
  • Ensuring the development team understands items in the product backlog to the level needed.
  • Ensure that the upcoming sprint backlog items are prioritised and defined to an appropriate level of detail and completeness to enable development work to commence.
  • Share goals, scope, and product domain with team members.
  • Prevent changes from impacting sprint goals, and review scope when new items need to be added.
  • Assist with production support items by resolving where possible or prioritising within the team against the other sprint scope.
  • Provide demos of new and existing functionality to clients, key stakeholders, and users.
  • Effectively lead a team, including recruitment, mentoring, training, career development and performance assessment
  • COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

    • MA in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar relevant field
    • Previous working experience as a Product Owner for 3-5 year(s)
    • In-depth knowledge of Agile process and principles
    • Certified Product Owner
    • Experience in the financial industry required.
    • Experienced in report writing up to executive level.
    • Experience partnering with other departments to achieve targets.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to non-technical and technical audience members
    • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
