Our client is currently looking to employ an experienced and suitably qualified Chief Financial Officer.

 

Main purpose of the position:

  • Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) drives the direction and success of the company by optimising the financial performance including its reporting, liquidity, and return on investment. The CFO must have strong leadership, analytical, strategic planning and communication skills, including an ability to work well with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operations Officer, Board members, other senior managers and other key stakeholders. As the key driver for mergers and acquisitions the role also incorporates execution of capital-raising strategies to support a group expansion.

 

Responsibilities:

Strategy, Planning and Management:

  • Provides executive leadership in the continuous evaluation of short and long term strategic financial objectives and advances strategies to enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
  • Provides strategic management of accounting and finance function
  • Assess and evaluate financial performance of the group with regard to long-term goals and advances strategies to both short-term and long-term growth plans.
  • Strategic Plan Preparation
  • Implementation for Financial Policies and Procedures
  • Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the group’s growth and expansion plan.
  • Participate in developing strategic initiatives and operational models of investment companies.
  • Investment management
  • Oversee monthly investment reporting

 

Mergers and Acquisitions:

  • Screen investment opportunities
  • End to end project management of a transaction from origination to closure
  • Develops detailed financial and valuation analysis models for potential transactions and leads research
  • Manages and implements merger and acquisition strategies.
  • Execute investment processes (Due diligence, Legal contract negotiations, regulatory approvals)
  • Manage the post-acquisition processes (Management, incentive structure design, key-man recruitment, stakeholder negotiations, operations restructuring)
  • Develop and manage investment exit strategy
  • Facilitate corporate finance

 

Accounting, Financial Analysis and Budgeting:

  • Oversee the preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Oversee annual external audit and tax preparations.
  • Oversee monthly investment reporting .
  • Oversee risk management of the group and investment companies.
  • Internal controls and financial policies.
  • Establish sound financial systems.
  • Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems.

 

Governance and Reporting:

  • Prepare and present board reports
  • Manage relationships with banks, financial partners, institutions, investors, external auditors.
  • Support audit and risk committee
  • Participate in Group Board meetings and other sub committees

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Honours Degree in Accounting / Finance
  • Chartered Accountant (South Africa) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
  • Master’s degree in Business administration MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 12 years related work experience in accounting and finance
  • Minimum of 5 years in senior management role
  • Mergers & Acquisitions and Corporate Finance experience preferred

 

Technical Knowledge:

  • Experience in strategic planning and execution.
  • Knowledge of mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles which includes generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of contract negotiating and change management.
  • Knowledge of automated financial accounting reporting systems.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare financial reports and projections.
  • Excellent professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
  • Ability to influence outcomes.
  • Be able to work independently.
  • Take the initiative where required.
  • Have reliable judgement skills and abilities.
