Duties & Responsibilities
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Claims Processing
The Trust certification Committee Member shall under the guidance of the COO be required to:
Receive application forms from the Claims Lodgement Officer and/or Medical Certification Panel by:
- Capturing all claims received from Lodging Settling Claimants or Lodging Dependent Claimants on a database.
- Updating and maintain the database to ensure that no duplicate claims ensue.
On receipt of an approved ODMWA Certificate with no Certificate of Medical Finding:
- Determine the Qualifying Disease, if any, which corresponds to the degree of compensatable disease in terms of the ODMWA.
With relation to the nature of the claimants, determine:
- Whether or not the Contended Deceased Individual complies with the definitional elements of a Deceased Individual or that of a Dependent Claimant.
Determine the degree of compensation by:
- Determining the corresponding degree of Qualifying Disease against the claim schedule in terms of the ODMWA
Record keeping
- Ensure that Forms of Release are collected for all claims finalized.
- Store and file all related documentation in a secure and accessible place.
Certification and Communication
Issue Certification to each lodging claimant after:
- Determining compliance (or non-compliance) with the definitional elements of each type of Eligible Claimant
- Determining the Benefits, if any, that the Eligible Claimant is entitled to claim.
- Determining that no Benefits have already been paid for the same Deceased Individual or Lodging Claimants.
Communicate with relevant parties by:
- Submitting the Certification to the Payment Administrator for payment.
- Issue notices to claimants
Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum
- Degree or Post graduate Diploma in HR, Law, Business Administration, or other related areas
- At least five years post qualification experience
Ideal
- Work in the mining industry either in the HR department or similar area dealing with, overseeing, managing mineworkers an advantage
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required (Competencies & level of competencies)
Minimum

- English, one other southern Africa language will be an advantage
