Key Performance Areas:
- Analyses resources (people and machines) available and allocates resources/capacity to meet the plan requirements
- Monitors progress daily by way of visual tracking progress
- Establishes and reviews acceptable quality standard of work on a continuous basis
- Initiates or recommends changes to ensure constant improvements e.g. change priorities for the day, change sequence of equipment use
- Analyses yield variances and implements corrective action to minimize losses
- Monitors and controls all stock continuously by visual inspection
- Ensures set lead times are met by allocating resources as appropriate
- Manages waste by ensuring that all waste is identified, segregated, minimized and recorded
- Manages stock rotation by ensuring the application of the FEFO principles
- Plans and verifies all stock take activities (cyclic and annual)
- Ensures all stock is stored appropriately to optimal storage requirements
- Compiles and submits monthly reports per agreed deadline e.g. Quality, Cost, Supply, Delivery, Morale
- Documents trends of statistics for management review meetings
- Reviews, Initiates and changes MMI’s in collaboration with R&D
- Conducts a broad risk assessment and identifies possible risks by on-going analysis of conditions, process and procedures e.g. regulatory compliance, industrial action, load shedding
- Manages staff performance by continual evaluation and feedback of output
- Determines by analysis of production demand the optimal headcount and motivates for adequate resources
- Identifies internal training needs and plans SOP training per skills matrix and evaluates competency
- Identifies external training needs & recommends training solutions.
- Promotes and maintains a stable employee / management relationship by managing and motivating staff in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Conducts performance appraisals and reviews bi-annually
- Recruits when necessary with support from HR within authorised headcount
- Arranges SOP training for subordinates as required indicating competency levels as per Skills matrix
- Communicates Departmental objectives and company vision to stakeholders
- Reports irregularities and other non-conformities relating to cGMP which forms part of the continual quality improvement process
- Housekeeping – maintains a neat and tidy workspace
Qualification and Experience:
- Matric
- Tertiary qualification advantageous, i.e Operations Management or Coschem Diploma
- Minimum five-years’ experience as a Manufacturing/Production Manager or 5-10 years’ experience as a Manufacturing/Production Supervisor
- Knowledge of systems and processes in a cGMP manufacturing environment
- Proficient in root cause analysis finding with attention to detail and with a sense of urgency while working in a safe and tidy manner
- Knowledge of OSH Act/Labour Laws /ISO Quality Systems
