My clients seeking an experienced Project Manager with specialised experience in contract management to manage and coordinate civil engineering infrastructure projects from inception to completion.

The successful incumbent will be responsible for coordinating all the team activities during the conceptual and detailed design phases to ensure that all required investigations, designs and authority approval are done in a timely manner; collating tender documentation; procurement; contract administration and close-out to ensure that projects are completed safely, meets design criteria, is within specification, time and cost constraints to achieve commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, monitor and control project scope of services and scope of work.
  • Coordinate necessary surveys, analyses, tests and site or other investigations required.
  • Establish regulatory authorities’ requirements, coordinate the incorporation of such in the design, coordinate the required submission of designs and reports and obtaining of approvals in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate the design team and the design development drawings, technical details and specifications.
  • Preparing construction cost estimates
  • Prepare documentation for contractor procurement, including the tender and contract data, scope of work, project specifications and bills of quantities.
  • Calling for and the evaluation of tenders
  • Preparation of contract documents for signature
  • Coordinate the appointment and activities of all sub consultants e.g., site material laboratory, health and safety agent and environmental control officer
  • Facilitating and coordinating site handover and regular site contract and technical meetings and compiling minutes of meetings
  • Reviewing all contractor’s guarantee’s, sureties and insurances
  • Prepare valuations for payment certificates.
  • Ensure good quality control systems and procedures are implemented by the construction monitoring team and contractor.
  • Evaluate and monitor the contractor’s construction programme to ensure compliance with contractual time requirements.
  • Prepare estimates of proposed variations for client decision making.
  • Assist in the resolution of contractual claims by the contractor.
  • Facilitate that all test certificates, statutory and regulatory approvals, as-built drawings and documents, operating manuals, guarantees and warranties are obtained and handed over.
  • Issuing of completion certificates and defects lists
  • Conclude final accounts.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a reputable tertiary institution
  • Eng registration with ECSA
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ relevant experience including construction monitoring on civil engineering infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in contract administration of civil engineering infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in JBCC, FIDIC and GCC forms of contract
  • Experience in developing tender documents for the purpose of construction procurement on civil engineering infrastructure projects, calling for and evaluation of tenders.
  • Proven track record in infrastructure project delivery, considering project risk management, programme management, quality control and cost control.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction Regulations 2014
