An exciting opportunity exists for a Production General Manager in the textile manufacturing sector in Nairobi, Kenya.

Be accountable for all aspects of plant operations, including personnel, quality control, GMP, maintenance, Inventory control, processing, packaging, SOP adherence, continuous improvement, Capex planning & implementation and budgeting

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for plant operations and production, people management, quality control & compliance, health & safety and capital investments
    Fostering well-trained and motivated factory team by guiding, motivating, and developing teams and staff
  • Coordinating and aligning different productions departments within the plant to ensure smooth operations, quality and inventory control and minimal lead times for customer fulfilment
  • Planning for production forecasts, budget spending, material efficiency, engineering effectiveness, and human resources
  • Accountable for factory performance and costs
  • Ensuring clear and transparent organisation of production departments and teams
  • Focus on lean manufacturing, operational excellence, and continuous improvement programs such as Kaizen to improve quality, production, efficiency, time utilisation and cost
  • Research and implementation of new ideas and technologies to ensure continuous improvement and development of the plant
  • Ensuring the organisation stays globally competitive by continuous saving initiatives and optimal resource utilisation
  • Coordinating and collaborating with business development areas to create and develop new and improved solutions for customers
  • Ensuring a clean and safe plant environment that exceeds expectations
  • Responsible for all manufacturing related capital investments from Capital Assessment to Implementation

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 7 years management experience
  • A Sound technical knowledge of the textile industry and manufacturing processes
  • Successful track record and experience in an automated or less analogue environment and ability to leverage that experience and those expertise gained to move the more traditional analogue manufacturing process internally and, simultaneously, increase the scalability and drive the customer ease agenda
  • Be a driver of positive change, continuous learning and improvement throughout the
  • organisation
