Responsibilities:
- Programming, configuration of programmable logic controllers (PLC) and operator interface for new installations and major modifications. Experience with Siemens equipment and sotware will be preferable.
- Setup, configure and program Human-Machine Interface (HMI) devices using latest vendor specific software, System Maintenance including implementing software updates and upgrades.
- SCADA Design, configuration, and implementation.
- Configuration and commissioning of Intelligent Motor Starters, eg VFD’s, Simocodes, and Soft Starters.
- I/O and Loop Checking, fault finding and documentation.
- Implement Software Management of Change (MOC) procedures and obey all customer specific procedures while carrying out all Site specific tasks.
- Attend to Fault Finding on Electrical, Control and instrumentation Systems and shutdown system including off-hour support. Implements automation, electrical and instrumentation best practices.
- Oversees assigned automation projects to ensure compliance with Project Management guidelines with team as well as any contractors sub-contracted to the company.
- Maintenance of process databases programs and associated interface.
- Support Automation Specialists in minor program changes and be ready to assist with further implementation and integration.
- Methodically, fulfils and documents programming performed according to our ISO requirements and procedures.
- Back up of work performed using Cloud based Storage Facility.
- Backup and archiving of configuration, drawings, and any Project related documentation and equipment to the specified job folders.
- Design, install and perform network installations, Acceptance testing and audits of software configuration on Profinet, Profibus, Modbus TCP/IP, RTU and on major Protocols.
- Commission and provide start-up support for new projects.
- Provide training for PLC and Operator interface systems.
- Assist field personnel in identifying and resolving Process Control, Control Network, and instrumentation problems.
- Maintain Alarm Paging System.
- Identify problems on miscellaneous systems, and provide solutions for such problems. Leads to be handed to Marketing team.
- Anticipating and preventing automation system problems.
- Makes recommendations on improvements, best practices, maintenance and standardization of PLC and Operator interface systems within the organization and also for the customer.
- Develop and maintain PLC and HMI programming standards and guidelines.
- Meet KPI Targets set out by management.
- Host Project kick-off meetings, and minutes.
- Follow up with Clients.

- Minimum qualification – NDip. Electrical Engineering Discipline – Process, Instrumentation and Control.
- Ability to develop technical and economic recommendations with incomplete information.

- Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, technical and field personnel and End Customers.

- A minimum of 5 years work experience in E.C & I projects with traceable references. Candidates with System Integration work experience will be advantageous.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related degree program.
- Siemens WinCC and PCS7 programming/configuration experience preferred – DCS PCS7 programming/configuration experience preferred.
- Allen-Bradley programming experience.
- Schneider Electric preferred.
