My client who is an independent, owner managed, boutique asset manager with a diversified offering in the South African financial services environment and focuses on managing institutional equities and fixed income within the local market is looking for a Fixed-Income Analyst to keep abreast of the latest developments and trends in the market and work toward driving efficiencies within the team and research processes, communicate your insights, findings and recommendations to the Fixed Income Portfolio Management team and the broader Investment team. Research, analyse, value, and interpret local and international macro-economic variables and trends for investment decision making inputs, perform analysis of the bond yield curves, including instruments’ sensitivity and convexity, monitor the risk adjusted return of the credit universe, build, and monitor portfolio optimisation model – make recommendations that improve credit portfolio performance and dealing and in fixed income securities and interest rate derivatives, including administration.
Minimum qualification requirements and skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree (major in finance, economics, accounting, actuarial, quantitative management preferred)
- Ideally studying towards CFA or FRM, a distinct advantage
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VBA and Macro skills are an advantage)
- Proficient in use of Bloomberg
- Good understanding of Bloomberg PORT or other risk system
- A minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in fixed interest, credit research or risk management with a strong quantitative modelling ability.
- Minimum 3 years of fixed income experience (preferably buy side) and demonstrable track record in investment recommendations.
