Main purpose of the job:

  • Manage study operational plans in conjunction with the respective P.I and leads and other necessary stakeholders

Location:

  • Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital – Soweto, Johannesburg

Key performance areas:

  • Ensure management of the study conduct including protocol and study material development, and implementation, reports and reporting
  • Liaise with all stakeholders within and outside of the organization at all levels of the business in order to meet programme goals
  • Manage study operational plans in conjunction with the respective P.I and Leads and other necessary stakeholders
  • Accountable for study planning and logistics
  • Planning and managing of all study related activities and ensuring study targets are being met at all times, including recruitment, data collection, data analysis, report writing
  • In conjunction with the study team, create and implement participant recruitment strategies
  • Supervise quality assurance measures, data query resolutions and assure high standard of data collection
  • Maintain study files in accordance with GCP
  • Develop and implement required checklists for the success of study targets and accountability
  • Tracking of participant enrolments according to inclusion criteria, target plans and stratification
  • Direct line manager for members of the team for staff management and oversight
  • Staff training
  • Manage and facilitate study meetings as required for staff and Sponsors
  • Participate and present in study calls as necessary
  • Ability to work with study partners across multiple countries
  • Active involvement and providing oversight to other staff member in data analysis and write up for peer-reviewed publications, conference proceedings and reporting on different levels

Required minimum education and training:

  • Masters or PhD in Psychology, Public Health, or related field

Required minimum work experience:

  • 5 Years experience in managing research projects, including clinical projects
  • Previous experience in a senior role, in a research environment

Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:

  • A valid Good Clinical Practice certificate
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and manage a research team
  • Excellent management and organisational skills
  • Must have a sense of urgency
  • Target driven and time conscious
  • Ability to work with low supervision and meeting targets
  • Background in quality assurance preferable
