Rohan Patil, regional manager for East Africa at Vertiv, received personal recognition at the Connected Africa Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, for his participation in the panel and overall contribution to shaping Africa’s digital future.
Hosted by the Kenyan Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy, the summit is an initiative towards shaping the digital destiny of Africa with African tech leaders, policymakers, investors, and businesses coming together to discuss, harness, and learn more about the opportunities presented by the digital economy.
Patil was among the high-level speakers at the conference, joining a plenary discussion on “Manufacturing, Green and Circular economy”, with fellow panellists including Burundi’s ICT Minister Léocadie Ndacayisaba; the Permanent Secretary of Lesotho’s ICT Ministry Kanono Ramashamole; and the chair of Uganda’s Communications Commission, Dorothy Okello.
Focusing on the impact of smart technologies on industry and manufacturing, Patil presented the latest developments in battery energy storage systems (BESS), UPS with dynamic grid support, and the role of AI, IoT and edge computing in today’s digital world.
Vertiv also participated at the event, with a well-attended stand alongside one of their strategic alliance partners, Dell Technologies, in the exhibition that ran in parallel to the four-day conference.
A highlight of the summit was the presentation of the Connected ICT Innovation Awards to innovators and entrepreneurs who have launched technology-led ICT products and services in Africa. Patil was presented with one of the awards for his participation in the panel as well as his overall contribution in shaping Africa’s digital future.
