Position Title: Applications Engineer
Reporting to: Engineering Manager and the Managing Director
Industry experience requirement: Mechanical Engineering / Component Manufacturing

As an applications engineer you will play an integral role in achieving purpose.
Duties:
- Prepare client quotations and administer client accounts.
- Part-take in Engineering trade shows and exhibitions, proposals, tenders and contracts.
- Support marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences, and other marketing events.
- Perform onsite work including Commissioning, inspections, installation assistance of the company products (mechanical power drive technology and solutions).
- Experience with selection and sizing of mechanical components (couplings, bearings, valves, gears etc)
- Be able to prepare technical documentation in compliance with ISO 9001 framework for clients.
- Make technical presentations to clients and offer solutions.
- Liaise with members of factory technical teams to ascertain correct product solution.
- Provide engineering support for sales team and service technicians.
- Manage projects together with key accounts.
- Prepare reports for management.
- Record and maintain an engineering database.
Skills/knowledge:
- Have at least 5+ years’ experience in mechanical power transmission and driveline equipment.
- Good knowledge of mining and mechanical power drive technology applications.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of mechanical power transmission products, features, functions, benefits and value propositions.
- Proven success presenting technologies as business solution.
- Able to organize and prioritize work in a multi-tasking environment and meet deadlines, follow through on commitments, and take corrective action where appropriate.
- Effective written, oral and presentation skills.
- Administrative Skills.
- Exposure to CAD packages.
- Good experience with Microsoft Office suite of applications.
- Understanding of ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 framework.
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
- Have a valid South African driving license.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Build engineering capacity and maintain engineering knowledge database.
- Perform service work onsite or in workshop including overhauling of brakes and couplings, inspection and overseeing of coupling change-outs.
- Maintain relationship with both supply factory and customers and service them from a sales and engineering perspective.
- Provide technical and sales support to internal and external customers.
Education:
- Qualifications in a Mechanical Engineering field.
- Diploma in conveyor design beneficial.
The salary package is negotiable for the right candidate profile/fit.
