Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in database management or compliance roles.
- Familiarity with database compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) is a plus.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of database management systems and data compliance principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in database management tools (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) preferred.

Key Responsibilities
- Compliance Monitoring: Oversee database activities to ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, POPIA) and university policies.
- Policy Development: Develop and implement database compliance policies and procedures aligned with legal requirements and organizational goals.
- Auditing and Reporting: Conduct audits, prepare detailed reports on compliance status, and present findings to management.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and recommend mitigation strategies, participating in incident response efforts.
- Training and Awareness: Create and deliver training programs on database compliance, promoting awareness throughout the organization.
- Collaboration: Engage with cross-functional teams and external auditors to ensure effective compliance initiatives.
