Medical Database Manager & Patient Navigator, Stellenbosch
Our client, an Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Stellenbosch, is seeking to recruit a Database Manager & Patient Navigator.
The right candidate will play a crucial role in supporting both clinical and research functions within the practice. This individual will establish and maintain a comprehensive database, encompassing a wide range of patient information, including medical images, videos, and clinical data. The role combines data management, patient interaction, and administrative support, requiring a professional with strong technical skills, attention to detail, and empathetic approach to patient care.
Requirements:
- Database Management: Create and maintain a secure and efficient database for clinical and research data, transferring existing patient information, including images and videos, into a new system.
- Data Collection and Entry: Regularly update and manage the database with ongoing patient reported outcome measures (PROMs), clinical images, X-rays, and other pertinent data.
- Patient Navigation and Interaction: Serve as a point of contact for patients, guiding them through data collection processes and assisting with their questions regarding data use.
- Research Support: Collaborate on research initiatives, provide data support, and ensure compliance with ethical and regulatory standards.
- Administrative Support: Organize and manage patient data, ensuring it is accessible for clinical, and research needs while maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.
- Communication: Build rapport with patients, ensuring clear and sensitive communication, especially during data collection activities.
Qualification:
- Master’s degree in medical science, health information management, or a related field.
- Strong administrative and project management skills.
- Proficiency in computer systems, database management, and data entry.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients.
- A strong desire to support ongoing clinical research and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

Working hours:
Monday to Friday, 08h00 to 17h00 (with occasional overtime as the practice demands)
