My client based in Cape Town (North) is currently looking for a Scrum Master to join them on an independent contract basis
Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the end-to-end delivery of complex system solutions, establishing and controlling project constraints and scope.
  • Managing relationships and communication with all project stakeholders.
  • Agreeing approach to delivery on projects within the delivery project team.
  • Leading and coaching the project team as appropriate and according to the needs of the individual project.
  • Ensure that the scrum team adheres to scrum theory, practices and rules, and work as a servant leader within the project team.
  • Providing clear ownership for and visibility of the resolution of all project risks and issues. Assist with the introduction of project metrics.
  • Lead improvements to the efficiency and effectiveness of the project delivery service and contribute to the identification of areas of improvement.
  • Ensuring the decisions made on project approach are documented and comply with Regulatory and Legislative requirements.
  • Providing regular, constructive feedback to project team members’ line managers.
  • Providing progress updates into the department programme.
  • Develop and maintain effective and proactive relationships with all stakeholders including suppliers and third parties.
  • Support the Project Managers for Project Delivery in maintaining and developing processes, standards, tools and reporting and their documentation and proactively reviewing the service provided to end-users and clients.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Agile experience
  • Wealth Industry Exposure
  • Relevant tertiary degree essential
  • Matric
  • 4-5 years’ experience essential as Scrum Master preferably in the Financial/Investment Industry
  • Experienced in the delivery of projects in an agile environment
  • Experienced (preferably certified) Scrum Master, with experience of other project frameworks such as RUP/ OUP, DSDM, Lean, Kanban

Technical Competencies

  • Understand basic fundamentals of iterative development.
  • Understand basic fundamentals of software development processes and procedures.
  • Understand the value of commitments to delivery made by a development team.
  • Understand incremental delivery and the value of metrics.
  • Understand backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and task definition.
  • Familiarity with common Agile practices, service-oriented environments, and better development practices.
