The University of the Western Cape’s (UWC) Information and Communication Services (ICS) Department play a pivotal role in delivering ICT services that enable and support the University’s strategic goals and objectives. ICS, in line with growing its capability and supporting the Digital Transformation Strategy of UWC, offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sharepoint Developer in the ICS Applications Development and Support unit.
To be part of a team responsible for the creation of robust applications and solutions from business requirements. The incumbent will be responsible for development, maintenance, and support of current and new applications and solutions. They will report to and take instruction from the Team Lead of the Business Systems Unit.
The Key Responsibilities of the incumbent include but are not limited to:
- Analyse business requirements,
- Design, develop, maintain and support existing and new SharePoint sites
- Documenting and testing of solutions
- The development and configuration of user-friendly, secure and scalable SharePoint sites and enhancements
Minimum Requirements:
- 3 year degree (NQF 7) or Advanced Diploma in Computer Science with 3 years relevant experience developing Sharepoint sites
or
- Senior certificate (with Bachelors pass) with 5 years relevant experience developing Sharepoint sites
- Office 365 certification
Advantageous requirements:
- Experience working in an academic environment
Minimum competencies required:
- Experience implementing SharePoint On-Premises, SharePoint Online, Power Platform and O365 solutions
- Experience of SharePoint Framework (SPFx), SharePoint PnP, SharePoint Search, TypeScript, C#, CSS, HTML5, JavaScript
- Basic experience of SharePoint APIs
- Basic understanding of service-oriented and object-oriented development environment
- Understanding of modern SharePoint web stack and creating deployable packages
- Experience creating low code/no code solutions using PowerApps and Power Automate workflows
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Graph and Azure Active Directory
- Understanding hybrid implementation of SharePoint on-premise and SharePoint online and related complexities
- Experience of SharePoint document and record management and data migration and migration tools
- Proven ability to develop innovative, secure, scalable, re-usable, user-friendly and accessible solutions
Advantageous:
- Understanding of Fluent UI, user interface design and prototyping
- Experience in relational database design and implementation with SQL Server, NET MVC, TFS, Azure
- Familiarity of Azure Dev Ops for source control, work item tracking and pipelines for automated builds
- Basic understanding of ISO/IEC 27001, OWASP, WCAG2 and ITIL
- Basic understanding of Waterfall, Agile and DevOps implementation methodologies
