Main purpose of the job:
- To provide user support and customer service on SyNCH applications and platforms at healthcare facilities
- Troubleshoot problems and advise on the appropriate action to end users at the different facilities where the SyNCH program is implemented
Location:
- Pretoria – Tshwane
Key performance areas:
- Provide support regarding software updates of HPRS, SyNCH and Electronic TB/HIV Register (TIER.Net)
- Maintain and update System Master files (HPRS, [URL Removed] and SyNCH)
- Support DoH in ensuring controlling and maintaining user access to all data management systems
- IT administration duties (keep inventory system for all IT assets)
- Utilising the Wits RHI operations call-log system for monitoring purposes
- Liaise with local health Facility managers as well as other relevant components regarding day-to-day operational matters for data management systems
- Interact with colleagues and project management to ensure fulfilment of project objectives and reporting requirements
- Work closely with the strategic information unit and provide support as needed
- Identify and provide training at health facilities and pick up points to ensure optimal and consistent utilization of the software system
- Conduct Data Quality Assurance and Compile reports on systems implementation
- Support on extracting DMOC data from SyNCH and [URL Removed] and monitor application configurations
- Install and upgrade software and applications according to the user’s needs
- Conduct hardware assessments of all facility IT equipment used specifically for capturing data
- Install anti-virus ensure all PCs are regularly updated
- Review all operating systems and test functionality
- Support regarding collecting and analysing of DMOC data
- All ICT related trouble shooting and problem-solving
- Install routers, test wireless connectivity, configure networking and Internet connectivity assessment
- Provide basic first line support for facilities and Wits RHI teams
- Log all support calls with the IT Service Desk at Wits RHI and Department of Health
- Software assessments at all facilities where there are electronic health information systems implemented
- Develop a training program for District and Sub-Districts and mentor the ICT Coordinators in implementing rolling out training to the district
- Implement a support and maintenance procedure to assist with call logging procedures and provide first line support
- Support the data management team in all data management functions
- Adhere to all data management SOP’s, guidelines, and confidentiality agreements
- Attend to all staffing requirements and administration
- Participate in the recruitment processes of SyNCH Technicians staff (including the development and marking of competency assessments)
- Coach and train subordinates and team members to ensure acquisition of knowledge and skills required by the organisation
- Promote harmony, teamwork and sharing information
- Supervise and manage the duties of subordinates to ensure optimal staff utilisation and maintenance of sound labour relations
- Perform and facilitate performance development and assessments
- Identify substandard performance by team members and take necessary corrective action
- Coach and train subordinates and team members to ensure acquisition of knowledge and skills required by the organisation
- Promote harmony, teamwork and sharing information
- Act as the first point of contact in assisting teams with DMOC data quality related issues and compliance, especially regarding DQAs.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of the institute staff around programmatic inputs and outputs in the assigned program areas
- Build and maintain partnerships with public health facility staff; the facility Manager and end users utilising the systems
- Communication with local, regional, and national collaborators and stakeholders
- Provide information technology services that respond to client and stakeholder needs
- Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrate effective self-management
- Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
- Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback.

Required minimum education and training:
- An appropriate IT related diploma or equivalent, experience with the application of IT related knowledge in the field
- Valid Driver’s License and the ability to drive
Required minimum work experience:
- At least 1 – 2 years relevant experience in software/ICT implementation
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
- Advanced computer literacy
- Advanced knowledge in implementing Health information systems is an advantage
- Ability to analyse and interpret technical information and excellent communication and writing skills
Demands of the job
- Ability to train client staff on usage of the IT systems being implemented, evaluate effectiveness of the system usage retraining of Wits RHI staff and DoH staff when needed and work independently
- The person needs to respond to requests for technical assistance in person, via phone, chat forums or email; trouble shoot and resolve technical hardware and software issues as well as following guidelines on the referrals to helpdesk
- Travelling (Valid driver’s license and ability to drive) and overtime may be required from time to time
- Must be contactable after hours for any unplanned emergencies or queries
