A well-established global law firm is seeking to appoint a Junior Database Administrator.
The virtual Central Database team, based around the world, is responsible for the support and strategic development of the Central SQL infrastructure. They are staffed by highly skilled, motivated staff, who are able to utilise the available technology and deliver a high level of service to the global legal practice.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in IT or a related discipline.
- 1 – 2 years of experience as an SQL Server administrator or in a similar role.
- Developing skills in database programming languages like T-SQL, understanding tools like SSRS and SSIS, learning ETL processes, practicing data handling, and improving SQL performance.
- Understanding of PowerShell & SQL scripting, stored procedures, triggers etc.
- Experience in administrating databases on SQL Server and Microsoft SQL Azure including Always-On availability groups and failover clustering, SQL replication is a bonus.
- Good problem solver, focused and dedicated developer with ability to work on your own as well as with a team.
- Effectively communicate with key stakeholders and excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Monitor global databases operational functions and statistics, report issues and potential impacts to the business and provide solutions to optimise performance. Also, assist the project and support team with investigations, help resolve technical matters and provide technical assistance for new projects and implementations.
- Perform regular database maintenance, install latest SQL patch, upgrade DB and application while also designing and implementing new databases
- Create and produce ad-hoc report as per business/user requirement
- Identify potential problems, provide technical expertise and propose viable solutions
- Monitor and maintain database storage, database health, performance and sustainability
- Manage SQL Replication, database backup strategies and perform recovery in case of disaster
- Continuous improvement of work practices to automate and reduce support practices
- Monitor and maintain SQL server instances including Always-On availability groups and failover clusters
- Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization and work closely with cross-functional teams, including data architects, data engineers, business analysts, and system administrators
- Produce and maintain Power BI and SSRS reports
- Design, develop, and maintain SSIS packages and ETL processes for efficient data transfer and transformation
- Proficiency in documenting database configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures
- Work type: Hybrid (mostly remote, but office attendance will be required from time to time).
Nice to Have
- Experience on SQL Server 2019 Administration is preferred
- Knowledge of Mongo DB and SAP systems
- Knowledge of Power BI
