A well-established global law firm is seeking to appoint a Senior Database Administrator.
The virtual Central Database team, based around the world, is responsible for the support and strategic development of the Central SQL infrastructure. They are staffed by highly skilled, motivated staff, who are able to utilise the available technology and deliver a high level of service to the global legal practice.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in IT or a related discipline
- A minimum of 10+ years of experience in the management and administration of enterprise level SQL server databases
- Experience in administrating databases on SQL Server and Microsoft SQL Azure including Always-On availability groups and failover clustering, SQL replication, backups and encryption
- Strong understanding of PowerShell & SQL scripting, stored procedures, triggers etc.
- Advanced skills in associated database programming languages such as T-SQL, SSRS, SSIS, ETL processes, data manipulation and SQL optimisation
- Good problem solver, focused and dedicated developer with ability to work on your own as well as with a team
- Effectively communicate with key stakeholders and excellent troubleshooting skills
- Monitor global databases operational functions and statistics, report issues and potential impacts to the business and provide solutions to optimise performance.
- Also, assist the project and support team with investigations, help resolve technical matters and provide technical assistance for new projects and implementations.
- Monitor and maintain SQL server instances including Always-On availability groups and failover clusters
- Monitor and maintain database storage, database health, performance and sustainability
- Manage SQL Replication, database backup strategies and perform recovery in case of disaster
- Design and implement fault-tolerant SQL Server solutions using highly availability patterns for scalability and stability in Microsoft Azure
- Continuous improvement of work practices to automate and reduce support practices
- Install and configure database systems, patches and upgrade while also designing and implementing new databases
- Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization and work closely with cross-functional teams, including data architects, data engineers, business analysts, and system administrators
- Identify potential problems, provide technical expertise and propose viable solutions
- Develop data mapping specifications to define relationships and transformations required for integrating data from multiple sources into a cohesive format
- Develop and implement standards, guidelines, strategies, and processes for efficient maintenance and delivery of information technology aligned with departmental objectives
- Ensure databases comply with relevant security standards and conduct regular security audit
- Produce and maintain Power BI and SSRS reports
Nice to Have
- Experience on SQL Server 2019 Administration is preferred
- Knowledge of Mongo DB and SAP systems
- Knowledge of Power BI
