Position Title: Server Administrator – Operational Technology (OT)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Server Administration & Support:
- Responsible for the administration, support, and optimization of server infrastructure, ensuring alignment with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Provide professional server support that meets and exceeds customer expectations in all aspects of server management.
- Server and System Management:
- Install, configure, and provide ongoing support for Microsoft Operating Systems.
- Configure, design, and support Hyper-V and VMware clusters.
- Design, support, and configure Anti-Virus solutions (preferably Trend Micro, Symantec, or McAfee).
- Administer and support security architectures, including Backup solutions like NetBackup and Backup Exec.
- Operate related server, software, LAN, and WAN equipment to ensure smooth operational flow.
- Conduct system analysis and integration, providing practical solutions and improvements as necessary.
- Technical Expertise:
- Expertise in IT infrastructure management, particularly in Industrial IT (OT) environments.
- Strong proficiency in Active Directory Domains, including architecture, support, and maintenance.
- Advanced knowledge in Anti-Virus solutions and related support protocols.
- Manage and support security software, licenses, and system access permissions.
- Perform routine system installations and troubleshooting with minimal supervision.
- Problem Solving & Incident Management:
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, and network problems efficiently.
- Ensure rapid response to incident management, including escalation of complex queries.
- Analyze data trends and propose proactive solutions to address recurring incidents.
- Reporting & Governance:
- Validate, publish, and track progress on server metrics, dashboards, and performance reports for the assigned region/site.
- Ensure compliance with governance frameworks by validating actions and following up on closure.
- Contribute to Project Governance and Validation, ensuring timely issue analysis and resolution.
- Manage and provide feedback on performance & delivery issues, ensuring adherence to timelines.
- Documentation & Training:
- Develop and maintain documentation related to procedures, standards, and activities.
- Produce technical and architectural documentation to agreed quality standards.
- Provide the necessary user documentation and assist in creating training materials for technical staff and users.
- Lead technician training, skill transfers, and ensure ongoing knowledge sharing across teams.
- Client & Vendor Management:
- Serve as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for server support in the designated area.
- Build and strengthen client relationships, attending meetings as required.
- Monitor, track, and control site server priorities to ensure high-quality OT customer service.
- Liaise with vendors and suppliers to maintain strong contractual relationships and ensure high service levels.
- Operational Technology (OT) Services:
- Ensure OT server support services align with agreed SLAs and operating procedures.
- Oversee and participate in Problem Management for P1/P2 incidents and proactively manage recurring issues.
- Perform scheduled OT operational tasks in accordance with the company IM Operating Model.
- Manage OT infrastructure risks, such as identifying single points of failure and end-of-life infrastructure.
- Coordinate OT Monthly performance reviews and contribute server-related content for SLA reports.
- Risk Management & Continuous Improvement:
- Identify potential risks in OT server infrastructure and propose mitigation plans.
- Drive service improvement initiatives based on data trend analysis and feedback from OT users.
- Ensure a proactive approach to the maintenance and housekeeping of OT server environments.
- Change Management & Automation:
- Implement effective OT change management processes for infrastructure or system changes.
- Contribute to identifying and driving automation opportunities for enhanced service delivery and process efficiency.
- Team Support & Resource Development:
- Coach and develop OT resources, ensuring skill development and efficient operation.
- Perform administration tasks that contribute to operational efficiency and effective resource management.
- Actively participate in daily, weekly, and monthly operational meetings, ensuring alignment with customer and internal expectations.
- Availability & Support Coverage:
- Perform standby duties to ensure 24/7 server support coverage.
- Maintain professionalism and appropriate behavior when interacting with IT/OT personnel, clients, and vendors.
- Ensure the workplace is clean, orderly, and conducive to productivity.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in Microsoft Operating Systems installation, configuration, and support.
- Strong knowledge of VMware, Hyper-V, and backup solutions.
- In-depth understanding of Active Directory Domains, Anti-Virus solutions, and Security Architectures.
- Proficiency in IT infrastructure management, especially in Industrial IT and OT environments.
- Experience in documentation, reporting, and providing user training.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues across multiple domains.
- Familiarity with ITIL frameworks, change management, and incident management processes.
- Excellent client-facing and vendor management skills.
- Ability to manage risks and ensure infrastructure stability and availability.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and improve server-related processes and solutions.
