Systems Engineer Specialist
An Enterprise Technical result-driven Engineer (Cloud, Virtualisation, Storage and Server) offering more than 10 years of extensive experience in enterprise infrastructure projects, system administration, systems architecture, hardware installation, implementation, integration, troubleshooting, training and strategic support.
To provide specialist technical expertise and support in installing; testing; tuning; optimising; diagnosing problems; repairing; upgrading and maintaining both externally and internally supplied hardware and systems software (i.e. Operating systems; data management products; office automation products; embedded systems); and other utility enabling software and related equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of PRD (Production) & DR (Disaster Recovery) hardware refreshes, including server and storage converged solutions. Oversee the deployment of 120 physical hosts running VMware ESXi 7 and 8.
- Architect and deploy VMware vSphere infrastructure to support business operations, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability.
- Implement and manage HPE Synergy solutions to optimize infrastructure capabilities and support diverse business needs.
- Deploy and manage Business Continuity solutions, including DR implementations, test failovers, and backup recovery using VMware and VEEAM Backup & Replication.
- Develop comprehensive documentation on best practices for designing and deploying VMware solutions. This includes the integration of associated management tools such as monitoring, provisioning, security and compliance, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Provide support for complex, high-priority customer escalations, ensuring timely resolution of issues to minimize business disruption.
- Identify gaps in existing infrastructure and provide strategies to mitigate these gaps, ensuring the environment remains robust and scalable.
- Stay up-to-date with VMware best practices and lead the implementation of updates and upgrades to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform necessary firmware upgrades and HDD upgrades to maintain and improve system performance.
- Maintain and update technical documentation for VMware, Hyper-V, and storage environments, ensuring documentation is current and accurately reflects the infrastructure.
- Manage and integrate VMware environments with AWS, ensuring seamless cloud integration and hybrid cloud solutions.
- Oversee the deployment and management of Veeam Backup & Replication solutions for backup and disaster recovery.
- Manage and maintain DELL hardware, ensuring that all systems run optimally and meet performance standards.
- Lead the planning and execution of VMware ESXi and vCenter upgrades, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Related
- An experienced VMware ESXi Host Engineer Specialist with at least 10 years’ experience
