Intermediate Business Analyst
JOB DESCRIPTION
Requirements Management
- Conduct structured and semi-structured requirements elicitation sessions with stakeholders (individuals and small groups) using appropriate techniques to gather clear and complete information.
- Analyse and document business processes, data flows, rules, and system behaviours to understand current operations and identify potential improvements.
- Capture and update requirements in Enterprise Architect (EA) according to company standards, including the documentation of Change Proposals (ECPs) where required.
- Prepare and maintain project artefacts that support traceability, stakeholder communication, and development activities.
- Maintain accurate notes from engagement sessions and use them to verify and validate requirements with stakeholders and the project team.
- Collaborate with senior BAs, project managers, and systems engineers/architects to prioritise requirements based on customer value, implementation feasibility, and business impact.
- Assist in validating built systems by comparing actual behaviour with documented requirements, reporting any discrepancies to the lead BA.
- Participate in discussions around requirement changes and assist in assessing their impact on business processes or systems.
- Demonstrate growing autonomy in managing your own tasks while proactively seeking guidance from senior team members when needed.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
- Build trust and maintain open communication with stakeholders through professional and positive interactions.
- Clearly communicate elicited requirements, proposed solutions, and process changes to both business and technical teams.
- Conduct meetings to gather input and confirm mutual understanding of requirements.
Qualification support
- Assist in representing client requirements throughout all phases of SDLC.
- Perform necessary tests on built systems as part of the company testing efforts to ensure correct functional behaviour.
- Gain and grow in understanding of requirements verification and validation efforts, including test coverage.
Product Transition support
- Assist in the drafting of user manuals/guides for company systems.
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of user training and/or training materials on built company systems.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience and Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Informatics, Industrial Engineering or Information Systems (or similar).
- Business Analysis diploma/certification (advantageous)
- 3-6 years demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst in the functional analysis, design and qualification of large-scale business solutions.
- Good working experience within the SDLC, from initiation and Requirements management, until the transition into the target operational environment.
- Demonstrated use of business modelling techniques in accordance with BPMN and UML standards.
- Knowledge of Software testing/QA
- Demonstrated use of Sparx Enterprise Architect (advantageous)
- Demonstrated use of Function Point measurement (advantageous)
