Vox has partnered with telecommunications provider Comsol to create bespoke connectivity solutions for South African organisations.
These solutions are ideal for companies in remote and rural areas as Comsol has wide coverage alongside Vox’s reach. So the companies can ensure organisations across the country have access to service regardless of location or size.
“Solar farms, mines, manufacturers, petrochemical organisations, agricultural companies and even remote universities are often underserved when it comes to connectivity solutions,” says Theo van Zyl, head of eireless at Vox. “This partnership ensures they gain access to reliable connectivity that’s cost-effective and accessible.
“For example, a university with 1 000 students using one of our bespoke solutions will pay as little as R6 per student for high-level connectivity services.”
The bespoke connectivity platforms developed by Comosl and supported by Vox are designed to leverage existing infrastructure while meeting specific business requirements. It is a custom-built network that is developed around the customer’s specific needs and that aligns with their budget expectations.
“We’ve developed unusual answers to connectivity problems across the country,” says Danny Ossher, key account manager for private networks at Comsol. “An array that allows for underground communications to a radius of 15km; a private network that provides large connectivity capacity to a mining organisation; a communication infrastructure for a manufacturing installation that spans vehicles, operations and employees; and a connectivity platform servicing an entire community. These are just some of the bespoke solutions we’ve developed for local organisations and situations.”
Comsol and Vox have invested significantly into ensuring that their combined expertise can create solutions that align with varied requirements. The technology can now be used to build a bespoke social development solution that supports a mining community, or to ensure a company can seamlessly access and analyse its data for real-time predictive maintenance and analytics, or to provide peace of mind to an organisation that requires always-on connectivity for business operations and safety.
