Sage has announced the appointment of Jordaan Burger as MD for its Africa & Middle East (AME) region, following a successful three-month period in the role on an interim basis.

Since joining Sage in 2019, Jordaan has held several senior roles, including vice-president: finance for AMEA. He has held senior positions across South Africa, London, and global markets. Prior to Sage, he served as financial director at MWR InfoSecurity (now F-Secure), managing finance operations in New York, Singapore, and Poland. He was also an audit partner at TAG Incorporated (now PKF Pretoria).

In his new role, Jordaan will lead Sage’s growth across the AME region, focusing on expanding its presence in cloud-based accounting, people and payroll, and payments solutions.

He succeeds Pieter Bensch, who steps into the role of executive vice-president for the UK, Ireland, and Africa (UKIA) region, and MD for the UKI.

“Jordaan’s appointment as MD is a key milestone for our AME business, placing him at the forefront of driving its next phase of growth,” says Derk Bleeker, chief commercial officer at Sage. “Pieter’s progression to EVP for UKIA highlights the strength of leadership talent within Sage, and Jordaan’s appointment further reinforces our commitment to customers and partners in the region. This transition underlines Sage’s continued commitment to delivering value, innovation, and long-term support to our customers and partners in AME.”

Burger comments: ” I am honoured to take on this role and excited to build on the strong foundation Pieter has established. The AME region is a critical part of Sage’s global growth strategy, and I look forward to working closely with our colleagues, customers, and partners to drive innovation, accelerate digital transformation, and create sustainable growth across the region.”
