Building, training, tuning, and managing AI models is a complex undertaking. Enterprise AI platforms streamline the process by providing tools that facilitate data management, query data across repositories (including multiple cloud environments), support collaboration and version control, assist with model development and management, as well as provide tools for governance and responsible AI.
Google and Microsoft have emerged as the top providers of enterprise AI platforms, according to a report by GlobalData.
GlobalData’s latest report, “Cloud-based Enterprise AI Platforms: Competitive Landscape Assessment”, finds that Google and Microsoft stand out as leaders in cloud-based enterprise AI platforms, offering a full suite of model development and management tools, as well as access to leading large and specialised language models.
Rena Bhattacharyya, chief analyst and practice lead for Enterprise Technology and Services at GlobalData, comments: “AI platforms continue to evolve, led by the addition of new tools and partnerships that support the deployment of GenAI and agentic AI by enterprise customers.”
GlobalData notes that to meet the explosion in demand for GenAI and agentic AI, all major AI platform providers have had to move quickly to add new tools. The platforms have expanded to include capabilities that help organizations incorporate, customise, and evaluate large language models (LLMs), as well as to evaluate the performance of multiple models. Those providers that offer their own LLMs are increasing the number of in-house options available and adding support for third-party models.
Bhattacharyya adds: “Platforms offer solutions to design and test model prompts, evaluate model performance and results, and understand potential costs. Recently, there is growing interest in using GenAI to create AI agents that can perform autonomous tasks.
“Platform providers are developing tools that aid in AI agent creation and management, as well as adding AI agent-related solutions from partners to their marketplaces. Thought leaders are collaborating with peers to develop standards that facilitate multi-agent orchestration.
“Google’s internally-developed suite of language models is broad and impressive; it was early to market with AI agent development tools and demonstrates thought leadership by developing the Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol with its peers. Microsoft was early to market with GenAI via its partnership with OpenAI and is well entrenched in the enterprise software ecosystem.”
