Purpose of the role:
The Specialist Application/Platform Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security measures for applications and platforms. The role involves proactive assessment, monitoring, and management of security risks, ensuring compliance with standards, and integrating security practices throughout the software development lifecycle. The incumbent will also provide guidance, training, and expertise to strengthen organisational security posture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct security assessments and vulnerability testing to identify and mitigate risks.
- Monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents and threats in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with relevant security standards, policies, and regulations.
- Develop, implement, and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate security into the SDLC.
- Provide security training and awareness sessions for employees and stakeholders.
- Perform regular security audits, risk assessments, and penetration testing.
- Implement and manage security tools, technologies, and frameworks
- Stay current with the latest security trends, threats, and industry best practices.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for application and platform security initiatives.
RequirementsMinimum Requirements:
- NQF 6 or a Degree in Information Communication Technology (ICT) field incorporating (but not limited to) Information Systems.
- Microsoft Certification, Oracle Certification, or AWS Security Certification.
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience as a Senior Application/Platform Security Engineer.
