Payment gateway Paystack has announced a new integration through Stripe with Xero, the global small business platform, to digitise invoicing and make it easier for small businesses to get paid and manage their cashflow.
The integration embeds secure payment processing into Xero’s cloud accounting software, giving South African businesses the option to easily generate digital invoices with a ‘Pay Now’ link. This link offers customers more ways to pay, including by card, bank transfer and Apple Pay.
Payments sync instantly to Xero, with records automatically matched to customer profiles, which cuts down reconciliation time, delivers real-time insights into finances and frees up valuable time.
“Our partnership with Xero gives South African businesses an invoice‑to‑payment flow with one‑click reconciliation, so getting paid is faster and finance stays simple. That frees up business owners to focus on growth,” says Thomas McKinnon, country lead at Paystack South Africa.
“By bringing local payment methods, strong success rates, and advanced fraud protection into Xero, Paystack makes every invoice easier to pay and safer to accept. It’s a simple way for entrepreneurs across South Africa, Nigeria, and Ghana to scale with confidence on tools they already love.”
The integration is tailored to provide cloud-based online accounting and safe, fraud-free payment solutions and benefits small businesses by providing:
- Seamless payments that boost checkout success: customers can pay with ease via Paystack’s secure methods.
- Time savings and improved cash flow visibility: businesses enjoy significantly faster reconciliation and improved business reporting.
- Scalability to power African ambition: with APIs that support developers in scaling as the business grows.
Colin Timmis, regional director of EMEA, Xero adds: “Our recent research showed that 58% of small businesses in South Africa have faced cash flow issues in the last year, with nearly half (46%) struggling with late payments. This integration helps solve a major pain point – getting paid quickly and reliably – which frees up businesses to focus on growth and not paperwork.”
