As it ramps up spending on artificial intelligence (AI), Meta is expected to cut about 10% of the workforce in its Reality Labs business that work on metaverse development.

The cuts could affect as many as 1 500 of Reality Labs’ 15 000 employees.

People working on virtual reality (VR) headsets and a VR-based social network are expected to be most heavily affected.

It is believe Meta will make the announcement today (Tuesday 13 January).
