My client based in Bellville is currently looking for a Scrum Master to join their team on a contract basis.

IT / FINANCE

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience working as a Scrum Master in an Agile environment
  • Strong practical knowledge of the Scrum framework, including:
  • Scrum events, roles, and artefacts
  • Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies independently
  • Solid understanding of iterative and incremental software development
  • Good understanding of software development and DevOps practices
  • Hands-on experience with JIRA and Confluence
  • Insurance industry experience is advantageous but not essential

Responsibilities

  • Coach teams on Agile and Scrum principles, values, and best practices
  • Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including:
  • Sprint Planning
  • Daily Stand-ups
  • Backlog Refinement
  • Sprint Reviews / Demos
  • Retrospectives
  • Scrum-of-Scrums (where applicable)
  • Encourage team ownership, collaboration, and self-organisation
  • Support teams in achieving sprint and release goals
  • Help teams improve velocity, predictability, quality, and flow
  • Guide estimation practices for user stories, epics, and releases
  • Promote continuous improvement and efficient delivery practices
  • Identify, manage, and remove impediments impacting delivery
  • Escalate blockers beyond the team’s control when required
  • Protect the team from unplanned work and changing priorities
  • Work closely with Product Owners to support backlog prioritisation and clarity
  • Align with Project and Programme Managers to ensure delivery fits into wider programme timelines
  • Facilitate effective communication between the team and stakeholders
  • Foster a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Support healthy team dynamics and resolve conflicts where possible
  • Escalate people-related issues to line management when appropriate
  • Support communities of practice and help define “Definition of Done” standards
