Bitcoin has hit its lowest prices in more than a year, around 50% less than its peak, which it celebrated in October 2025.

Yesterday the cryptocurrency was trading at $64 000.00, after hitting highs of more than $100 000.00 in preceding months.

Other crypto coins are also trading down, with Ether an Solana having seen 30% drops.

The poor Bitcoin performance has had a knock-on effect, hitting companies with crypto embedded in their business models.

For instance, currency exchanges are feeling the pinch and downsizing, while organisations that invested big in cryptocurrency are reporting lower earnings.

The latest downturn has been partly blamed on risky trading, and partly on stalled US legislation as lawmakers dispute one of the bill’s provisions.
