We are seeking a mid-senior level Network Engineer to support, operate and evolve our enterprise network environment with a strong focus on SD-WAN, LAN, and WLAN.

Experience with Huawei technologies is preferred but not mandatory as the environment is multi-vendor (including Huawei, H3C and others). Candidates from a Cisco-based background must be comfortable transitioning between vendors and willing to upskill quickly. Beyond technical capability, this role requires a hands-on, service-oriented mindset with a willingness to assist other departments when network-related issues arise and to take ownership of problems through to resolution.

Key Responsibilities:

Network Operations & Support

  • Support and maintain SD-WAN, LAN, and WLAN environments across multiple sites.
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and stability.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues across Layer 1-7.
  • Ensure high availability and resilience of network services.
  • Participate in on-call or after-hours support when required

SD-WAN

  • Operate and support an SD-WAN environment (training provided where required).
  • Troubleshoot WAN performance issues including latency, jitter, packet loss, and path selection.
  • Validate traffic steering, failover behavior and policy enforcement.
  • Work closely with firewall and security platforms to ensure correct traffic flow

LAN & WLAN

  • Support and maintain campus switching environments.
  • Manage VLANs, IP addressing, routing, and redundancy mechanisms.
  • Support enterprise WLAN environments including RF performance, capacity, and client connectivity.
  • Troubleshoot wired and wireless user connectivity issues.

Security & Integration

  • Work with firewall platforms to ensure secure and reliable traffic flows.
  • Troubleshoot asymmetric routing and policy-related issues.
  • Assist with network security best practices and operational controls.

Cross-Department Support

  • Assist other departments (systems, voice, applications, end users) when network-related issues impact service
  • delivery.
  • Act as a technical enabler, not a siloed engineer.
  • Provide clear communication during incidents and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain a “willing to assist” attitude, even when issues fall slightly outside strict job boundaries.

Documentation & Change Management

  • Maintain accurate network documentation and diagrams.
  • Participate in change planning, risk assessment, and post-change validation.
  • Contribute to operational standards and improvement initiatives.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications & Experience

  • Matric (Grade 12) – essential

Required Technical Skills & Experience

Core Networking

  • Strong fundamentals in TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, STP, QoS
  • Solid troubleshooting skills across wired and wireless networks
  • Experience operating enterprise or service-provider-grade networks

Vendor & Platform Experience

Huawei (primary environment):

  • SD-WAN
  • LAN switching
  • WLAN

(Direct experience preferred but not mandatory if learning ability is demonstrated)

Cisco

  • CCNP-level or higher practical experience
  • Strong understanding of Cisco-based enterprise networks

Firewalls & Security

  • Fortinet (FortiGate) experience preferred
  • Understanding of firewall policy flow and routing interactions

Additional Exposure (Advantageous)

  • MikroTik
  • Multi-vendor environments
