Reverside is seeking a highly experienced Lead Product Engineer with strong COBOL expertise to support a critical South African Domestic Low Value Payments system. This role operates within a high-performing team responsible for the maintenance, support, and continuous improvement of key banking systems.
The successful candidate will work in a high-pressure environment supporting a critical banking function, collaborating with development teams while contributing to system stability, enhancements, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support core payment systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
- Implement system enhancements and improvements.
- Participate in standby and support rotations.
- Collaborate with development teams on smaller development tasks.
- Identify risks and contribute to risk management processes.
- Engage with stakeholders across different areas of the bank.
- Contribute to system modernization and process improvement initiatives.
Mandatory Technical Skills
- COBOL (minimum 7 years’ experience)
- JCL (Job Control Language)
- DB2
- Batch processing
- Online transaction processing
- Strong problem-solving and system troubleshooting skills
